Urban Eco Construction CEO Dave Radlmann managed the development and construction of one of the first LEED-certified industrial buildings in the Southeast.
Here, he explains how he created a unique new program that awards LEED innovation points through the repurposing of onsite construction waste into permanent art for the community. Radlmann commissioned local artist Dwayne Bass to create a sculpture made entirely from the building's own construction waste, which would have otherwise ended up in a landfill.
"This program is a win/win opportunity for developers and communities alike," says Radlmann. "By introducing a low-cost option for an additional LEED point, we're giving developers an unprecedented incentive to support the arts and enrich the community itself."
